With the Chargers gone and Mission Valley up for grabs, it seems everybody is suddenly *keenly* interested in San Diego State’s football attendance. Trouble is, that number has always been kind of tough to pin down. The official count is a tickets-distributed figure, and that often doesn’t jibe with the butts in seats. THE HATERZ on the other hand have it on good authority that literally zero people have ever attended an Aztecs football game. We’re here to find the truth, people.
October 14, 2017: SDSU vs. Boise State. The death of a dream season. Read the recap. Or don’t. No judgement.
- SDSU was ranked, undefeated and playing Boise State, duh.
- It was Family Weekend at SDSU, meaning a few Aztec undergrads brought their parental units to the game before ditching them to get hammered at a pre-pre-Halloween party.
- Boise came in with two losses so, while they brought a fair number of fans as always, the blue crush was not it full effect.
- Dynamic pricing strikes again! The cheapest seats in the house were $44.
- Late 7:30 start is late.
Mercy. Forty nine thousand for a conference game with no fireworks and no giveaway. This is the kind of showing SDSU fans had always hoped was possible if the bandwagon really got rolling. It happened, friends. It happened.

Oh, I see.
Rating the official attendance figure on a scale of one to five fudge elves, with one being accurate and five being fudged to the point of demanding a public records request.
It was sure as hell 49,053, and it was lit AF for a little while. Boise State even had a crowd noise induced timeout on its first drive! The city stepped up and … it was treated to that diaper load of a football game. See you next year, maybe, several thousand bandwagon fans!
I am so depressed.
