Shoddy Game Recap: ‘Tecs open hoops season with a win

Kabeer Thirty did not staff tonight’s men’s basketball opener out of deference to DEMOCRACY (I.E.: getting drunk while watching election returns.) But let the record show that the Aztecs started their 2018-19 campaign by besting Arkansas-Pine Bluff 76-60.

Devin Watson scored 20. Jalen McDaniels had 15 points, 9 boards and 5 assists in just 27 minutes.

Also, a banner of note was unveiled.

We’ll have better hoops coverage as the season progresses when the future of Mission Valley/our freaking Republic is not at stake, promise.

In the meantime, read Zeigs.

The most nerve-wracking SDSU football games of 2018, ranked

TD

Two years ago I spent most of the final drive of the Cal game lying face down on the floor of my brother-in-law’s living room in Texas, trying hard not to emanate any scream or exultation or stream of expletives that might stir — or permanently scar — my niece and nephew sleeping nearby.

Last year, I spent the final three minutes of the Stanford game gripping the railing of the STADIUM Press Level so tightly I’m surprised the decaying aluminum didn’t snap off in my hand.

College football wants us all dead, and it’s coming for us once again.

Cold beer, new faces and hella baskets: an exhibition basketball Tweetcap

The San Diego State men’s basketball team kicked off the Brian Dutcher era on Thursday night with a 98-79 win over UC San Diego. Yes, yes, I know: “Kicked off” is a stupid and embarrassing expression to use when writing about hoops, but you know what? I’m not changing it.

IT’S THE PRESEASON FOR BLOGGERS TOO. I’m here to learn from my mistakes and get better, folks.

Tonight’s game wasn’t on TV (not even the TV they have on computers these days) and I didn’t attend the contest because LOL I’m not paying $15 parking for a stupid exhibition game. So I didn’t see it. Lemonverbena had other plans, as well, and VocalMinoritySDSU lives in the Yukon Territory or somesuch. Fortunately, Attempted Chem was on the scene at State to drink beer, eat greasy Mexican food that will definitely not give him the runs and provide this handy Tweetcap for the first non-super secret fake game of the Dutcher era!

Some Aztecs-themed Valentine’s Day treats just for you!

It’s Valentine’s Day, meaning it’s time to celebrate the utterly irrational act of love! Well, if you’re like me, there is nothing you love more irrationally than the San Diego State Aztecs. To celebrate this holiday, I’ve gone ahead and ripped off Brandon Bird’s best idea created some SDSU-themed candy hearts for you to enjoy and share with your friends and loved ones.
